REPAIR PROCEDURE:

1. Park the vehicle on a flat, level surface, turn off the engine and chock the wheels.

CAUTION! Do not remove the wheel chocks until all modification work has been completed.

2. Tighten the exhaust studs using instructions found in the Modification Procedure on the next page.

3. After reassembly, confirm that there are no leaks.

1. Remove the exhaust hanger bolts (Red Arrows) and exhaust flange nuts (Green Arrows) and disconnect the O2 sensor connectors (Blue Arrows).

2. Remove the front exhaust pipes from the exhaust manifold flanges by lowering the complete exhaust system down as shown in the photo below left. Remove the gaskets from the studs as shown in the photo below right.

3. Tighten all of the exhaust studs fully into the exhaust manifold flanges. *If any of the studs or nuts cannot be reused due to damage, replace them with OEM studs (ML296164) and nuts (ML296165).

4. Install new gaskets (ML296166 and ML296167) on the manifold flanges and connect the exhaust front pipes.
